John Ahyouwaeghs was born on September 27th, 1794 in NY.  John Ahyouwaeghs' father was Chief Joseph Thayendanegea, or "he places two bets." Brant (Mohawk) and his mother was CATHERINE ADONWENTISHON Croghan.  His paternal grandparents were PETER   Tehowaghwengaraghkwin Brant and Margaret Sahetagearat Onagsakearat , or Owandah; his maternal grandparents were Col George Tahkarihoken TRADER Croghan and Catherine Karaghiagdatle. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Jacob, Margaret, Mary, Catherine and Elizabeth.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Isaac and Christina Aoghyatonghsera Kainyaron.  He died at the age of 38 in 1832.
