John, known as Tadody, was born in 1197 in Brembye, Sussex, England.1  Tadody's father was William de Braose IV and his mother was Matilda de Clare.  His paternal grandparents were 4th Lord of Bramber William (The Ogre of Abergavenny) de Braose III and Maud St. Valery; his maternal grandparents were 4th Earl of Hertford, 6th Earl of Clare Richard (The Surety) De Clare and Countess of Gloucester Amica Meullent Of Gloucester. He had a sister named Maude.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother named The Surety.  He died  due to Fell from a horse. at the age of 35 on July 18th, 1232 in Brembye, Sussex, England.1
