William was born in 1175 in Bramber, Sussex, England.1   William's father was 4th Lord of Bramber William (The Ogre of Abergavenny) de Braose III and his mother was Maud St. Valery.  His paternal grandparents were Sheriff of Hereford, Lord Bramber William de Braose II and Bertha de Gloucester de Pitres; his maternal grandparents were Bernald de Saint Valery IV and Eleanor de Domnart. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Reginald, Giles, Maud, Margaret and Leuca.  He died due to murder / assassination, Murdered/Starved to death by King John, walled alive in castle with mother, at the age of 36 on August 9th, 1211 in Windsor Castle, Surrey, England.2
