Nancy Jane was born on February 14th, 1852 in Mocksville, Davie Co., NC, US. Nancy Jane's father was Isaac Hillery Foster and her mother was Ann Etchieson. Her paternal grandparents were Zenas G. Foster and Dinah Taylor. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Isaac B, Shadrach Shadric M., Calvin, Samuel T, Louisa, Mary A, Lydia D and Camilla. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She had three half-brothers named James M, Wiley S and Thomas Martin. She died at the age of 65 on June 14th, 1917 in New Richmond, Montgomery Co., IN, US.-
