Lydia D was born about 1857 in Farmington Davie Co North Carolina.1 Lydia D's father was Isaac Hillery Foster and her mother was Ann Etchieson. Her paternal grandparents were Zenas G. Foster and Dinah Taylor. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Isaac B, Shadrach Shadric M., Calvin, Samuel T, Louisa, Mary A, Nancy Jane and Camilla. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She had three half-brothers named James M, Wiley S and Thomas Martin.-
