Joan (of Acre) was born in 1272 in Akko, Hazafon, Israel. Joan (of Acre)'s father was Edward (Longshanks) Plantagenet of England I and her mother was Princess Eleanor of Castile.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Plantagenet of England III and Lady Eleanore Berenger of Provence; her maternal grandparents were Ferdinand (The Saint) of Castile and Leon III and Joanna de Dammartin. She had four brothers and eleven sisters, named John, Henry, Alphonso, Edward, Katherine, Eleanor, Joan, Margaret, Berengeria, Mary, Elizabeth, Isabel, Alice, Beatrice and Lucy. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Thomas, Edmund, Edmund and Eleanor.  She died at the age of 35 on April 23rd, 1307 in Clare, Suffolk, England.  She was buried on April 26th, 1307 in Austin Friars Church, Clare, England.
