Adele was born in 1140 in Blois, Loir-et-Cher, Centre, France.1   Adele's father was Count of Blois and Champagne Theobald (The Great) of Blois III and her mother was Maud de Carinthia.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Stephen (The Sage) Henry of Blois II and Adelidis (Alice) of England; her maternal grandparents were Duke of Carinthia Engelbert von Sponheim II and Uta von Passau. She had four brothers and five sisters, named The Liberal, Theobald, Stephen, White Hands, Isabelle, Marie, Agnes, Mathilde and Margaret.  She was the third youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 66 in 1206.2
