Robert was born after 1857 in Winesburg, Holmes Co, OH. Robert's father was Charles Peter and his mother was Julia Nydegger. His paternal grandparents were Johan Jacob Peter and Barbara Elizabeth Fuchs; his maternal grandparents were John Rudolph Nydegger and Anna Dobler. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Theodore Philip, August Willhelm, Victor Otto, Wilhelm Arthur, Rudolph Jacob, Arthur Hugo, Clara Elise and Mary Augusta. He is the oldest of the nine children. He had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Carl Herman Rudolph Cornelius, Carl Alfred, Franz Eugene, Wilhelm August Emil, Carl Rudolph Friedrich, Hermina Rosalia, Maria Colestina, Hennrietta Charlotta and Fredrick Alfred.General Notes
