August Willhelm was born on February 8th, 1859 in Winesburg, Holmes Co, OH. August Willhelm's father was Charles Peter and his mother was Julia Nydegger. His paternal grandparents were Johan Jacob Peter and Barbara Elizabeth Fuchs; his maternal grandparents were John Rudolph Nydegger and Anna Dobler. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Theodore Philip, Victor Otto, Wilhelm Arthur, Rudolph Jacob, Arthur Hugo, Clara Elise and Mary Augusta. He is the third oldest of the nine children.
