Ianthe was born about 1829 in Rose Twp, Carroll Co, OH. Ianthe's father was John McCreery and her mother was Ianthe Hayes. Her paternal grandparents were William McCreery and Elizabeth C; her maternal grandparents were William Hayes and Rachel Russel. She had four brothers and a sister, named Samuel, William Hayes, Joseph, John and Rachel. She was the second oldest of the six children. She died on April 16th, 1915 in Harrision Twp, Carroll, OH.
