Hugh XI was born in 1221 in Lusignan, Vienne, France.  Hugh XI's father was Hugh X De Lusignan and his mother was Isabella Taillefer De Angouleme.  His paternal grandparents are Hugh IX De Lusignan and Matilda De la Marche; his maternal grandparents were Aymer Taillefer De Angouleme and Alice De Courtenay. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Geoffrey, Henry, William De Valence, Guy, Agatha le Brun, Margaret le Brun, Alice le Brun, Aylmer and Isabella.  He was the third oldest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Henry III, Richard Angevin, Joan, Isabel and Eleanor.  He died at the age of 29 in 1250 in Egypt.
