Stephen Douglas was born in February 1862 in Bloom, Seneca County, Ohio. Stephen Douglas' father was William H. Cooley and his mother was Rebecca Hillard. His maternal grandparents were Peris Hillard and Clarrisa Kimball. He had two brothers named Charles and Franklin. He was the oldest of the three children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Phanael, Perry, Ira Daniel, James H., Abigail and Clarissa. He died at the age of 73 on March 7th, 1935 in Seneca County, Ohio.-
