Evan was born on August 16th, 1800 in Greenville, Pendleton Dist, SC. Evan's father was Joseph Evans and his mother was Amelia Hawkins. His paternal grandparents were Robert Evans and Sarah Hetty May; his maternal grandfather was Edward Hawkins. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Robert, Edward, William, Joseph Jr., Margaret Frances, Frances, Sarah Eloise and Amelia Millie. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Jefferson C., James Franklin, Willis Granbury, John and Matilda Jane. He died at the age of 73 on January 3rd, 1874 in Cherokee Co, TX.-
