Meric's father was Rebuen Johnson Morris and her mother was Amialie Levinia Wells. Her paternal grandparents were Reuben J. Morris Sr. and Frances B. Taylor; her maternal grandparents were William Francis Wells Jr. and Amy A. Roe. She had a brother and six sisters, named William Lon, Ellen Amy Marie, Bertie, Dora, Lula, Minnie and Tincy.-
