His paternal grandparents are George Gilreath and Mary Murray; his maternal grandparents are Arthur Arrington and Mary Sandifur. He had a brother named John. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John, William , Jr., Alexander, Jesse, George, Archibald, Nancy, Sarah and Mary. He died at the age of 52 on December 19th, 1802 in Wilkes County,North Carolina.-
