William Barton was born in 1774 in Bute County,North Carolina. William Barton's father was John Gilreath and his mother was Johannah Jones. His paternal grandparents were William Wesley Gilreath and Mary Arrington. He was an only child. He died at the age of 54 on May 28th, 1828 in Whitley County Kentucky.-
