James L. Gilreath 
James L.'s father was Benjamin Jones Gilreath and his mother was Mary "Polly" Moore. His paternal grandparents were John Gilreath and Johannah Jones. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John Lewis, William Wesley, Benjamin Perry , Jr., Gideon, Hannah, Anna, Elizabeth, Martha, Mary and Susannah.General Notes
James served the Union during the Civil War as Private, Co E, 12th RGiemnt, Kentucky Infantry. He enlisted on October 17, 1861 for 3 years. He fought in the battles of Null Springs and Perryville, KY as well as Blue Springs and at the Siege of Knoxville. He was home sick in Whitley County from January 1864 until April 1865 when he applied for discharge.
