William IV was born in 1290 in Helmsley, Holderness, Yorkshire, England.  William IV's father was William III de Ros and his mother was Maud de Vaux.  His paternal grandparents were Robert IV de Ros and Isabel d'Aubigny de Albini; his maternal grandfather is John de Vaux of Freston. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Mary, Margaret and Agnes (Anne).  He was the third youngest of the six children.


William IV's first family with Margery de Badlesmere

‌William IV and Margery were married in a religious ceremony before November 25th, 1326.  They had two sons and three daughters, named William V, Thomas, Elizabeth, Maud and Alice.


William IV's second family with Margaret de Neville

‌William IV and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony before 1342.
