Mary Ruth was born on August 5th, 1919 in Blue Creek, Kanawha County, West Virginia. Mary Ruth's father was Isaiah W. Shafer and her mother was Eva Ethel Daugherty. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel L. Shaver and Sarah Jane Kiser. She had three brothers and a sister, named Chester, William Harry, Harry Edward and Dorothy Mae. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died after 1942.-
