Joseph was born on November 30th, 1692 in Thornbury, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Joseph's father was William Brinton and his mother was Jane Thatcher. His paternal grandparents were William Brinton and Ann Bagley; his maternal grandparents were Richard Thatcher and Jane Stevens. He had three brothers and two sisters, named William, John Thatcher, Edward, Mary and Ann. He died at the age of 59 on December 18th, 1751 in Birmingham or Thornbery, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
