Gisela was born in 0820 in Frankfurt, Prussia.  Gisela's father was Louis I "The Pious" Emperor of the Holy Roman and her mother was Judith Princess Of Bavaria.  Her paternal grandparents were Charlemagne Emperor Of The Holy Roman and Hildegard Princess Of Alemannien; her maternal grandparents are Guelph I Duke of Bavaria and Edith. She had a brother and a sister, named Charles II and Adbelahide. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Arnould, Lothaire, Pepin I, Louis, Ludwig II "The German", Hildegarde, Alpaide and Rotrude.

‌Gisela and Eberhard Marchese (Unruochinger) were married in a religious ceremony before 0840 in France.  They had two sons named Berenger I and Unruoch III.
