His paternal grandparents were Henry Plantagenet and Elbeonore (Lbeonor) Berenger; his maternal grandparents were Fernando III "The Saint" King Of CASTILE AND LbEON and Jeanne De DAMMARTIN. He had three brothers and eleven sisters, named John, Henry, Alphonso, Eleanor, Joan, Juliana Katherine, Joan "of Acre", Margaret, Berengaria, Mary, Alice, Elizabeth, Beatrice and Blanche. He was the third youngest of the fifteen children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas 'Of Brotherton', Edmund 'Of Kent', John De and Eleanor.
