Jane was born in 1751 in Of, Orange, North Carolina. Jane's father was Samuel DALTON and her mother was Ann Dandridge "Nancy" REDD. Her paternal grandfather was William DALTON and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth (DALTON); her maternal grandfather is George REDD and her maternal grandmother was Anne DANDRIDGE. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Samuel, David, Robert, William, John, Letitia (Letty), Rachael, Mary, Ann "Nancey", Rachel, Sarah Matilda and Virginia "Jenny". She was the fifth youngest of the thirteen children. She died in , Rockingham, North Carolina.General Notes
