Bertha Maxine was born on March 18th, 1919 in Mt. Erie,Wayne Co,Illinois. Bertha Maxine's father was Thomas Jefferson Walter (Walters) and her mother was Maude May Nesler. Her paternal grandparents were Edward Walter and Drusilla Duvall; her maternal grandparents were Robert Fulton Nesler and Sarah Canzidia Simpson. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Robert Lacey, Jesse Alonzo, George Allen, Dollie Maybell, Edna Pearl, Daisy Caroleen, Lillian Juanita, Nora Evelyn, Anna Lorene and Mary Katheryn. She was the third youngest of the eleven children.-
