Shubeal was born on March 11th, 1742 in Middleboro,Plymouth,MA. Shubeal's father was John Thompson and his mother was Lydia Wood. His maternal grandparents were Elnathan Wood and Mary Billington. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Isaac, John, Ezra, Lydia, Uzza, Susanna, Lydia, Sarah, Uzza, Fear and Priscilla. He was the oldest of the twelve children.
