Elzena (Rebecca) was born in 1877 in Crawford County,Indiana. Elzena (Rebecca)'s father was William Harrison Sloan and her mother was Sarah E. Weathers. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Neal Sloan and Mary Eads; her maternal grandparents were Henderson Weathers and Elizabeth Alspaw. She had six brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Luther, Neal H., Clark, John E., Sherman, Joe, Eva, Ella Mae and Joseph E.. She was the second youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 76 in 1953. She was buried in St.Louis,Missouri.-
