Clarissa Ellen was born on April 5th, 1852 in Orange County,Indiana. Clarissa Ellen's father was Benjamin Neal Sloan and her mother was Mary Ann Sands Douthit. Her paternal grandparents were Archibald Sloan and Leannah Bolling; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin Douthit and Maria Riley. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Silas W., Winfield Scott, Archibald Franklin, Elmer Elsworth, Edward, Oliver Howard, Haden Finley, Rebecca Ann, Lidda Martha, Leannah Caroline and Mary Belle. She was the third oldest of the twelve children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named William Harrison, John Eads and Janette (Jennett). She died at the age of 97 on May 19th, 1949. She was buried in Marengo Cemetery,Marengo,Crawford County,Indiana.-
