James was born on March 16th, 1793 in Jefferson Co,KY or Oldhan Co,KY. James' father was Bright Pruett and his mother was Annister. His paternal grandparents were Michael Pruett and Elizabeth Bright. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Eli, Michael, William, Phoebe, Elizabeth, Matilda, Mahala, Nancy and Hannah. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He had three half-sisters named Catherine C., Margaret E. and Anna Crow. He died at the age of 53 in 1846 in Morgan Co,IN.General Notes
