Lionel de Camois was born on February 11th, 1879 in of Oakenden,Port Mackay,Queensland,Australia. Lionel de Camois' father was Arthur Kemmis and his mother was Emily Slatyer Gibson. His paternal grandparents were Arthur Kemmis and Aphra Raymond. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Arthur Hume Raymond, Ernst Sydney, Frank Cecil, Vivian Maughan, Cyril Guy, Gerald Wilfred, Mary Aphrasia May, Emily Florence Minna, Amy Constance, Ida Myzra and Ruby Muriel.
