Her paternal grandparents were James T Hess and Sarah Ann Hite; her maternal grandparents were James M. Young and Margaret Lemmon. She had five brothers and five sisters, named James Carey Bug, Almo Thompson, William, Gail, Glenn, Ora Ann, Merle, Grace, Estella H and Verna. She was the oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 69 in 1941 in Warren,IA.-
