Gail was born on July 31st, 1887 in Warren,IA. Gail's father was William W. Hess and his mother was Nancy Elizabeth Young. His paternal grandparents were James T Hess and Sarah Ann Hite; his maternal grandparents were James M. Young and Margaret Lemmon. He had four brothers and six sisters, named James Carey Bug, Almo Thompson, William, Glenn, Lulu, Ora Ann, Merle, Grace, Estella H and Verna. He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 78 on August 13th, 1965 in Long Beach,CA.-
