Lydia Florence was born in 1873 in Indiana. Lydia Florence's father was William C. Shields and her mother was Elizabeth A. Deckard. Her paternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Martha J. Sciscoe; her maternal grandparents were Adam Deckard and Elizabeth Sylvester. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Charles Edgar, William Oscar, Raymond, Keet, Fred, John W., Elza Flick, Flora and Nettie Roxie. She was the second oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 72 on April 29th, 1945 in Monroe County, Indiana. She was buried in Clear Creek Cemetery, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
