Effie was born on October 23rd, 1904 in Monroe County, Indiana. Effie's father was Luther Edward Shields and her mother was Lillie I. Eads. Her paternal grandparents were Charles H. Shields and Susan M. May; her maternal grandfather was Peter Eads. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Oliver, Oliver, Henry Peter, Earl, Luther Edward, Sarah Margaret, Ada, Glodene E., Glenda, Jean, Jewell and Lora. She died at the age of 65 on May 9th, 1970 in Bloomington ,Monroe Co., Indiana. She was buried in Gilgal Cemetery, Lawrence Co., Indiana.-
