Margaret Catherine was born on September 20th, 1818 in Jessamine County, Kentucky. Margaret Catherine's father was James Scott and her mother was Susannah Zike. Her maternal grandparents were Jacob "Zeuch" Zike and Katherine Lucinda Avey. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, John Park Curtis, William, Mitilda and Melinda. She was the youngest of the six children. She had five half-brothers named Jacob Botkins, Infant, Infant, Benjzmin Franklin and Alexander.-
