Samuel Hicks 
Samuel was born about 1841 in Virginia. Samuel's father was Joseph Stephen Hicks and his mother was Margaret Boggs. His paternal grandparents were William Hix and Hannah Garrad\Jarrett; his maternal grandparents were John Boggs and Susanna Drennen. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, William, George Washington, Stephenson B (?), Lawrence, James, Nancy Joanna, Elizabeth Jane and Margaret. He was the youngest of the ten children.
