Joseph Hicks 
Joseph was born about 1817 in Greenbrier Co,Virginia. Joseph's father was Joseph Stephen Hicks and his mother was Margaret Boggs. His paternal grandparents were William Hix and Hannah Garrad\Jarrett; his maternal grandparents were John Boggs and Susanna Drennen. He had six brothers and three sisters, named William, George Washington, Stephenson B (?), Lawrence, James, Samuel, Nancy Joanna, Elizabeth Jane and Margaret. He was the second oldest of the ten children.
