James Board Dowell

James was born on May 15th, 1791 in Bedford Co., Virginia.¹ James' father was Elijah Dowell and his mother was Jemima Board. His paternal grandparents were George Dowell and Margaret Ferguson. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Nehemiah, George, John, Elijah, Joel, Harrison, Dandridge, Elizabeth, Nancy, Jincey and Polly. He was the third oldest of the twelve children.
