Robert was born about 1848 in Plymouth.1 Robert's father was Thomas Steer and his mother was Mary Ann Brooks. His paternal grandparents were George Steer and Elizabeth Sherrill. He had five brothers and a sister, named George, Philip, George, Herbert, Edmund and Ada.General Notes
