Albert was born about 1848 in Elsecar Yorkshire.1   Albert's father was William STEER and his mother was Harriott STEER. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named John, Alaxander, Fred, Joshua, Collin, Olive, Emily, Myram, Susannah, Adelaide, Alberta and Harriott.  He was the oldest of the thirteen children.
