Harriott was born about 1865 in Elsecar Yorkshire.1   Harriott's father was William STEER and her mother was Harriott STEER. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Albert, John, Alaxander, Fred, Joshua, Collin, Olive, Emily, Myram, Susannah, Adelaide and Alberta.  She was the second youngest of the thirteen children.
