Josuah was born about 1863 in Greasbrough, Yorkshire.1   Josuah's father was William STEER and his mother was Harriet STEER. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named John, Fred, Elick, Colin, Birket, George, Frank, Adelaide, Harriet and Agnes.  He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.
