The 1836 Poll Book shows Jeremiah Mather (Mary's father) and Henry Holt (Henry's father) at East Breightmet Hills. Lives with: In 1901, Mary L Settle was with her daugher Mary A Heyes and family. Lives with: In 1861, (after Ann died) Thomas was living with his brother Edmond.  Both born Bury. In 1836, Henry Holt and Mary Lord were children in neighboruring farms at Breightmet.  The 1836 Poll Book shows Jeremiah Mather (Mary's father) and Henry Holt (Henry's father) at East Breightmet Hills.

In 1861, Henry and "Mary Lord" Holt (28 & 27) were farming 12 acres at Western Hill Farm House, Breightmet.  They had Nancy (2) and William Henry (10 mo) and Martha Dyson (nurse girl, 10) boarding.  Mary was born at Heapley.

In 1866, Mary Lord Holt, widow, daughter of Jeremy Mather a farmer married John Bailey, an Earthenware Dealer from Little Bolton at St. George, Bolton.

27 May 1855 Henry, a Carter of Breightmet, the son of Henry Holt a Grocer married Mary Lord Mather, spinster, daughter of Jeremy Mather, Farmer.

In 1858, Henry and Mary had daughter Nancy baptised at Harwood.  They were living at Roscoe Fold.

In 1861, Henry and "Mary Lord" Holt (28 & 27) were farming 12 acres at Western Hill Farm House, Breightmet.  They has Nancy (2) and William Henry (10 mo) and Martha Dyson (nurse girl, 10) boarding.
1860 - 1865 William Henry Holt 4 4 William was the son of Henry Holt and Mary Lord Mather, born at West Breightmet Hill.

In 1865, William's father Henry died and in 1866 his mother remarried John Bailey. Only Nancy was with her in 1871, and it appears William may have died.

Q1 1865, William Henry Holt died, aged 4. Both birth and death were registered at the Tonge-with-Haulgh office.
1858 - 1925 Nancy Holt 67 67 Born May 1858 (according to 1990 US census). Daughter of  Henry Holt and Mary Lord Mather of West Breightmet Hill, Bolton, Lancashire.

In July 1858, Nancy daughter of Henry and Mary of Roscoe Fold (Henry a Carter) was baptised.

In 1861, Nancy is aged 2 and her mother confirmed as Mary Lord Holt, confirming the family line from Jeremy Mather.

In 1871, Nance Holt, aged 11, was with her step-father John Bailey (37), and Earthernware dealer, and mother Mary (37)

Nancy emigrated to North Dakota, USA in 1882
1796 - 1873 Henry Holt 77 77 Henry, the son of William Holt of Breightmet.

In 1836 (Poll Book), Henry Holt is at Roscoe Fold. He also has "East Breightmet Hill Farms"

In 1851, Henry and Betty (54 & 48) were at Roscoe Fold with six children.

In 1861, Henry and Betty (65 & 59) were at Roscoe Fold. Amelia (20) and Albert (17) were still with them.
1802 - 1872 Betty Greenhalgh 70 70 Betty was from Darcy Lever, but was also from Roscoe Fold, Breightmet. 

In 1836, Richard Greenhalgh Snr (her father - TBC) had freehold houses at New Lane, and his son Richard Greenhalgh Jnr was at Roscoe Fold.
1833 - 1914 Joseph Holt 81 81 In 1851, Joseph and Elizabeth (52 & 53) are at Eastern Hill, Breightmet.  Sons John (20), Joseph (17) and Henry (14) are crofters.

In 1857, Joseph married Sarah Lomax at Harwood, Christ Church, Bolton (Ref: 36/1/16).

In 1861, Joseph Halt Sen and Elizabeth (64 & 65) are with son Joseph and Sarah (28 & 24) and their two girls.

In 1871, Joseph and Sarah (38 & 35) were farmers of 7 acres at East Breightmet Hill. They had daughters Nancy, Mary, Amelia, Elizabeth Ellen (13,12,9 & 5) and son Benjamin (2)

In 1881, Joseph and Sarah (47 & 45) with Amelia (18), Elizabeth E (16), Benjamin (13), Sarah J (9) and Harriet (6).

In 1891, Joseph and Sarah (58 & 54) are at Breightmet Hill East with Mary (3), Benjamin (22) Sarah Jane (19) and Harriett (15).

In 1911, Joseph and Sarah (77 & 74) had been married 54 years and had 8 children, 4 whom have died.  Joseph was a retired crofter, still at (No.7), Breightmet Hill East, Bolton.

In 1841, Joseph & Elizabeth (both 40) were Ag. Labourers at East Breightmet Hill with their four sons.

In 1851, Joseph (52, born Bolton) was an Ag Labourer of 7 acres at Eastern Hill, Harwood.

1830 Mary Holt In 1851, "Mary" was 20. 1835 James Holt A Wheelwright when his father died in 1873 (see probate) 1837 John Holt 1838 - 1846 Isaac Holt 7 7 Isaac was born and baptised in December 1838.  There is also BETTY HOLT's birth registered in Bolton in Q2 1838 to parents HOLT+GREENHALGH, but cant be a sister

Isaac was missing in 1851 - Dead?
1841 - 1879 Amelia Holt 38 38 Amelie or Emelia (in 1851) marriad John Mayoh, a provision Dealer.

Amelia died in 1879, and John (now a Widower and an Inspector) remarried in 1881
1843 Albert Edward Holt In 1862, Albert married Hannah Taylor at Bolton, St James, Breightmet.

In 1891, Albert E Holt and Hannah (both 47) were farmers at Old Hall, Crompton Fold, Breightmet with 8 children.
1846 - 1846 Nancy Holt 2m 2m After their first daughter Nancy died in 1845, Henry and Betty had another Nancy, baptised  in 1846, but was missing in 1851. 1839 - 1874 John Bailey 35 35 In 1851, John Bailey, aged 12, born Staffordshire was with his parents Nathan and Sarah Bailey at Haslingden.

In 1861, John Bailey was 22, unmarried and a Hawker lodging  at Bridge Street, West Leigh, Pennington.

In 1866, John Bailey, son of Nathan a farmer, married Mary Lord Holt at St. George, Bolton.

In 1871 John's father Nathan Bailey (5) was living with his brother Joseph and family at 365 Blackburn Rd, Little Bolton. John and Mary (32 & 37) were neighbours at no. 367 Blackburn Road, together with daughter Nancy Holt (12).

1841 John Mayoh John was a "Provision dealer of 50 Smith Street, Little Bolton" as recorded in the Probate record of Henry Holt (father-in-law) 1875 Harriet Holt 1872 Sarah Jane Holt ~1770 William Holt There are several possible marriages of William Holt and Mary.  1793 to Mary Barrow at Manchester is a good fit, 3y before Henry was born.  William is a Husbandman which also fits with him and his sons being farmer or crofter.  Although he used St Mary Bury for baptisms of Henry and Joseph, he was living at Breightmet. ~1770 Mary Barrow 1806 Betty Holt 1807 - 1808 Mary Holt 1 1 1809 William Holt ~1780 William Holt ~1780 Mary Langstroth 1823 - 1847 William Holt 23 23 There is a William Holt, farmer, full age, son of Joseph a farmer of Middle Hulton who married Mary-Ann Makinson in Nov-1842, but it is unlikely it is the same William from Breightmet. 1816 James Lomax WARNING: There are no Breightmet births registered for any of the Lomax children.  Were they all fostered?

In 1841, James and Mary (both 25) had Sarah and Mary (4 & 2). This may be another family.

In 1851, James and Nancy (35 and 36) are at Breightment with Sarah (14), Henry (9), John (5) and Ann (2)

In 1861, James and Nancy (both 47) are at Wastern Hill, Breightment with Henry (19), Jane (16), John (14) and Maryann (6). Daughter Sarah and her husband Joseph Holt as neighbours.

In 1869, James (52, Widower, Bleacher), son of John married Alice Nuttall (41), dau of Thomas Nuttall (weaver)

This cant be the son of Henry and Mary who had Emily Mary the same year.

In 1851, there was a James Holt, son of Thomas Holt a mechanic and Martha living in Little Bolton, but this is unlikely to be him (his father Henry didnt have a brother Thomas).
1838 Betty Holt BETTY HOLT's birth registered in Bolton in Q2 1838 to parents HOLT+GREENHALGH, and possibly died Q3 1839, aged 0.

Aged 13 in 1851 with Mother Betty and other siblings.
1868 - 1869 Sarah Bailey 1 1 Sarah was born in 1868 but not with parents in 1871, assumed died. 1871 - 1936 Mary Alice Bailey 64 64 26 July 1890, Mary Alice Bailey, aged 19, daughter of John married William Heys at St Peter's Bolton

In 1901, William and Mary A Heyes (31 & 29) were at 12 Higson Street, Bolton with Bertha (10), John Robert (8), Fred (4) and Mary's mother Mary L Settle (Wid, 67).
