Also with Mary Grayson (but no tree) Representative of: In 1844, Ellen was a witness to Jane's marriage. 1782 - 1853 Richard Timmis 71 71 Richard was baptised 10 March 1782 at Keele, Staffordshire, the son of Richard and Mary.

Marriage: "29 Feb 1808, Richard Timmis of this Parish of Liverpool, a Cordwainer and Ellen Lewis of the same parish, spinster by Banns".

Richard was a Cordwinder when he married in 1808, when Josiah was baptised in 1810 (at Salthouse Dock) and in the 1824 Liverpool Directory.  Later described as a shoemaker (the same).  Salthouse Dock is a prime site, next to the Albert Dock.

1810-1815, Richard and Ellen lived at Salthouse Dock.  This was their address when son Josiah was baptised and buried, and when the twins Mary and Ellen were baptised in 1815.

In 1835, Richard is listed in the Poll Book as a shoemaker at Park Lane.

In 1841, Richard (58) is a shoemaker at Copperas Hill, Islington, Liverpool (the road beside the Adelphi Hotel).  With him were son Richard (15) daughters Ellen (25) and Jane (20). Hugh and Ann Trelford and family with them are not related.

The 1851 census shows Richard (69) a Widower, shoemaker, born in Keel, Staffordshire and his son (also Richard, 25), a slater and plasterer born in Liverpool were at 107 Field Street, Everton.
1810 - 1813 Josiah Timmis 2 2 Not on 1841 census, as died in 1813 aged 2. 1812 - 1816 Mary Timmis 4 4 Mary and Ellen not were twins, although baptised together at St Peter's while the family lived at Salthouse Dock.

Mary died in May 1816, aged 4
1815 Ellen (Ellenor) Timmis Mary and Ellen were twins, Christened together at St Peter's, Liverpool while the family lived at Salthouse Dock. Richard is a shoemaker.

In 1851 "Ellen" (34) and brother Richard (25) were living with their father at 107 Field Street, Everton, Liverpool. Edward Barron (35, Book keeper from Blackburn) was an occupier of an appartment.

In 1852, Daughter Ellen married Edward Barron, the son of John and Jane Barron.  They were living at Field Street.  The Catholic marriage was at St Francis Xavier (Francisci Xavarii), and recorded at West Derby, Liverpool.
1817 Ann Timmis Ann had left home by 1841, presumed married, although there is a marriage record in West Derby, 1844, which could be her.

1 Oct 1838 Ann Timmis, daughter of Richard married John Taylor, son of Josiah Taylor at Wolstanton, Staffordshire. In 1841, Ann and John (24 & 26) were in Liverpool with their first son Richard Taylor (5 mo). However, there are no birth records for Taylor with MMN = TIMMIS.

Ann Timmis of Hollinwood, Prestwich married Joseph Whitehead. Ann's father was Richard, but a dyer, not a shoemaker (so not her). Another Ann Timmis, daughter of James married Alonzo Hibbert in 1841 in Manchester.

In 1851, Ann and John Taylor (both 34) were at 10 Mulberry Street, Mount Plesant, Liverpool with sons Richard, William and Henry. (10,8,6).  By 1861 John had died and Ann and her three boys were with her mother Mary Harrison at Mount Plesant.  Therefore this Liverpool John Taylor (and Ann Yates) are another family.

1886 is the only Liverpool marriage of an Ann Timmis: She married James Page at Liverpool Register Office.  This is also likely to be another (as too old).
1821 - 1893 Jane Timmis 72 72 22 Oct 1844 John Edwards a farmer at Antrobus, Chester, married Jane Timmis of 107 Field Street, Everton, daughter of Richard Timmis a gentleman at Walton on the Hill, Everton, St George.  Sister Ellen was a witness.

1748 - 1799 Richard Timmis 51 51 In 1779, living in Ludlow when John was born ~1748 Mary Hall Mary Hall was a very common name in these parts.  Therefore there's little chance of tracing the christening (79 matches found for 1740-50, but only one in Keel).  However, one marriage records suggests Mary is from Wiltshire.

A 9cM DNA match to CEWoodburn suggests a 6th cousin with Mary's father William Hall (1705-1782) as the common 5th great-grandfather.
1777 - 1835 Ann Timmis 58 58 In 1794, Ann possibly had a son Richard, baptised at Wolstanton, Staffordshire, named after her own father.  No father is named.  However, this may be another Ann (1773-1836) from Burslem if age at death is correct. 1780 - 1859 Mary Timmis 79 79 In 1841, Mary Rhodes (6) was with William (a potter) and Ann Boot (20 & 30) at Queens Street, Hacks Hill, Stoke-on-Trent (i.e. the "Potteries") 1775 - 1778 John Timmis 3 3 1779 John Timmis John had a brother John who died in 1778 and buried at Keele.  John was born the following year.

John married Sarah.  Their fir two children were named after John's parents.

Sarah was from Wybunbury, Cheshire which is where their first child Mary was born in 1809 and Thomas in 1811 (who died an infant). After that all the children were born and baptised at Betley, Shropshire.

In 1841, John (60) and his wife Sarah (50) were farming at Betley with Mary, Richard, Jemima and George (15 to 9) and two male servants.

John Timmis, aged 70 and wife Sarah 67 are farmers at Betley in 1851. John born Ludlow.

Another John Timmis, aged 73, a widower was an Annuitant (pensioner) in 1851, living with Joseph (45, Milk seller) and Elizabeth (44) Ward and their son Charles (16).

John was still alive in 1861, 82, head, at Betley, a retired farmer and shown to be born in Ludlow (although baptised at Keel).  He is now living with John and Eliza (31,30) Franc, Ag. Labourers, with their young daughter Rhoda (5).
1767 - 1848 Josiah Timmis 80 80 Josiah was a Farmer in Keele all his life.  Josiah was still in Staffs when he died in 1848, leaving a Will.  The burial record shows he was 80 years, so the son of Joseph Timmis (not Richard which must be another).
