Harold was born on December 15th, 1890 in Rhodes (nr. Middleton) and his baptism took place on February 8th, 1891 at St. Thomas (Radcliffe).¹²

Harold's father was James Wrigley and his mother was Alice Mather. His maternal grandparents were William Mather and Eliza Graham. He had two brothers named Fred and Horace. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died as a war casualty at the age of 26 on May 30th, 1917 in France.³
