Martha was born in March 1746 in Cuddington by Malpas and her baptism took place on May 2nd, 1746 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).1  Martha's father was Thomas Tomlinson and her mother was Mary Otterhead. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Thomas, Randle, William, Randle, Ann, Mary and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.
