Ann was born in October 1860 in Manchester.1  Ann's father was James Tomlinson and her mother was Mary Ann Healey.  Her paternal grandparents were James Tomlinson and Ann Craven. She had five brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Willie, George, Elizabeth, James and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.
