William was born in July 1852 in Bolton.1  William's father was Robert Mather Taylor and his mother was Mary Ann Kay.  His paternal grandparents were John Taylor and Mary Mather. He had six brothers named James, Joseph, Bernard, David, Kay and Doctor.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at 1 months old in August 1852 in Oldham.  He was buried on August 8th, 1852 at St. James (Oldham).2 1
