George Stocks

George was born on March 18th, 1819 in Huddersfield and his baptism took place on May 30th, 1819 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).¹

George's father was William Stocks and his mother was Mary Moorhouse. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Stocks and Ann Walker. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Samuel, Sarah, Jane, Mary, Hannah and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the eight children.

- In 1851 another George is married to Precilla (2 years younger), and has Samuel and Alfred, as well as mother Lydia with him.
  
  George married Elizabeth Gilpin, but were missing from the 1851 census. His farther had 2 grandchildren with him, and these must have been George's, as the other son Samuel was too young.
  
  Still living at Folley in 1861 with Sarah and 2 grandchildren.
  
  Another George Stocks ("Stork" aged 42 on 1861 census) was also born Huddersfield and was in Birkenhead with wife Letitia and family.
