Thomas was born in 1796 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on February 12th, 1796 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Thomas' father was James Singleton and his mother was Alice Greenhalgh. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Amelia, James, Alice, Elizabeth, Sarah and Martha.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 62 in March 1858 in Chorlton-cum-Hardy.  He was buried on March 17th, 1858 at St. Ann's (Manchester).2
