Mary was born on December 29th, 1849 in Bolton.¹ Mary's father was William Pollitt and her mother was Esther Holt. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Pollitt and Mary Davenport; her maternal grandparents were James Holt and Fanny Hamer. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Miles, Elijah, Albert, Lois and Emily. She was the second oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 61 on August 31st, 1911 in Bolton.¹
